Alpha 9: Synaptic Link location

Time limit: 1 hour

Preparations

Before you load up the transport and send the first group on the away mission, take a look at your units and begin recycling the older units such as the MG and Flamer Vipers. Also, redesign some of your units to take advantage of heavier bodies. Begin producing some of the new Heavy Mortar units as well as Mini Rocket Artillery units. You have a lot of structures to destroy, and artillery is the best way to do it.

Also produce some Medium Cannon Cobras and Lancer Cobras. When the base is running smoothly, load a truck, and a selection of Cobras with Cannons and Lancers aboard the transport and take off. When you get to the LZ, send two combat units to guard the ramp to the north while the rest cover the pass to the east. Construct a Repair Facility by the LZ, then order your truck to build some defenses along the ridge line north of the pass. Call in reinforcements as soon as you can. Because it takes three minutes for them to get to you, call early and often. The second load should have more combat units, and the third should contain a Mortar group.

Clear out the Perimeter

It's time to go on the offensive. Send your Mortars along with an escort group east to target the defenses on the ridge guarding the Scavenger outpost to the east. After the Rocket Pits and MG Towers are gone, send some of the combat units into the outpost to finish off the rest of the structures while your Mortars begin to bombard the second outpost nearby. When the southern map edge is clear, send the Mortars back to the LZ and leave a group of combat units in the pass to guard against attack. Continue to bring in reinforcements, including more combat units and another Mortar group. Now secure the western side of the map. Send the Mortars, again with a couple of escort groups, north along the western map edge. Take out the defensive structures along the way. You run into lots of enemy units, so keep your Mortars protected.

Assault the Main Base

The Scavenger outpost is your next target. When it's destroyed, take a minute to regroup. Make sure your escort force is strong enough to take on some large enemy attacks and bring repaired units back to the front. By now you should have received another Mortar group. Send it, as well as an escort, along the southern map edge, then north to begin bombarding enemy Towers and hardpoints.

When the first Mortar group begins attacking the base, the enemy sends a large group to strike back at you. Keep bombarding the defenses while the escorts take care of the Paradigm units. After the second Mortar group clears the ridges east of the New Paradigm base, it begins targeting the Factories and other internal defenses. Even after the Factories are destroyed, the enemy will still bring in new units by transport and drop them off at their LZ. Destroy all the structures in the enemy base and recover the Artifacts. Begin researching them immediately. When there are no enemy units or structures left, the mission will end in success.

how come every time I attack the main base, an enemy ship takes in some units and escape, leaving the player to fail the mission?
is there something i missed?

john and anonymous, this is not in this mission but later, no enemy leaving here :)

This is a very complicated way to do proposed here, i never head to the east to clear the perimeter.
first load, pure combat units and clean quickly the scavengers 2 bases go and back.
2d load i bring the mortars and a few trucks. just turn to the north from the LZ and clean the north scavenger base, while mortars are posted on the hill starting to destroy the main base with a tower sensor and a repair facility build with my trucks.

after, just attack the base from the main gate. i always have a lancer tower of the enemy left at the end at the back side, so i can upgrade and all. i finish with 1 sensor tower and 1 mortar in the middle of the base, while all my units are waiting for the next mission in the main base far away after upgrading...

The walkthrough guide said:
"Send the Mortars, again with a couple of escort groups, north along the western map edge."
Duh, I do not see any way to go North at the West side edge of the map.
I have v2.3.4, is my map different than the walkthrough's ?
No matter how I attack the enemy always escapes on a transport.
Obviously I am doing something wrong, can anyone help to steer me in the right direction?
Thanks for a fun game, even if I am stuck at level nine.

Double Duh, it's my mistake.
I have been stuck in Alpha 11, not 9.
I already completed Alpha 9.
No wonder there is no western way north.
Sorry for the confusion.

I have the same problem...
I have the units and I can overwhelm the enemy very early in the game...
But as soon as I attack the last enemy base, with plenty of minutes left, the enemy escapes...

Can anyone please tell us what to do?
