Ok here is how you get past this level. You have to build a defensive structure such as a gun turret to something like that in the middle where the green light is blinking. You don't have to build on top of it but you must have in where the light is blinking. When you do that the game ends and you win. It took me several days to figure this out. I also had built everything else in the middle so I don't know if you need any of the other buildings.

If you start building defense , always look at the energy bar !
How I do?...
If i am in a closed area(no more than three openings),first I try to close the openings with "hardcrete wall",than building main structures(research facility,HQ,factory, power generator and oil derriks. After these I build defence .
If i am in a open area ,i try to attack first and then to build up defence . Than i try to find a closed area on the map and move there. If it isn't I try to couvre my base with two sheats of wall and a third so : turret , wall , tureet , wall , and long range artilery .

It fires 76mm rounds? More like 40mm rounds if you ask me, since this is basically like a Light Cannon, but with twice the rate-of-fire. (It might have been inspired by real-life autocannons such as the 40mm Bofors autocannon.)

Do bear in mind however that it's usually advantageous to attack with several aircraft at once, as the AI seems to prefer to concentrate fire on one aircraft at a time; if the first aircraft in the formation is set to retreat at medium damage, the turret being targeted will continue to fire at it as it turns to escape rather than shifting targets to the greater threat. And AA emplacements are often built in groups.

Not very difficult (after reading the comments). My first group was a pack of lancers. I sent them down the canyon, to stop the convoy. Didn't bother with the scavangers, my lancers did a lot of damage just passing by anyway. Second group was those rocket guys (not sure what they are called in the english version sorry), i sent them out to clear the remains of the scavanger basese, and then straight to the enemy LZ (ne). They got damaged, but all survived. In the meantime, i sent group1 to the paradigm base on the hill. Some of them died, but by the time my third group arrived, i got the message, to return to LZ.

One thing I never understood is how this is an "upgrade" of a railgun. A guass cannon isn't nearly as powerful as a railgun.

Railguns shoot large projectiles at hypersonic speeds, and small ones at high highersonic speeds. No gauss cannon can do that. Does ten-thousand miles per hour sound fast, otherwise fourty-five HUNDRED feet per SECOND? That's the speed of current, REAL, railguns. Future improvements will only lead to higher speeds, For all warzone purposes, the rounds should hit instantly. (they dont)

=== Definitive Guide ===

The following is based on my own experience, thanks to the the other commentators.

The mission is 1 hour and 10 minutes long. I highly recommend playing the first part at 0.5x or 0.8x speed. Load up a CB tank, two Ripple Rocket tanks, two python bunker buster VTOLs, three lancers, a commander, and a truck.

For trucks, I keep two designs. The base ones, for times of peace. These are bug hover units: they're cheap and fast. I also keep a panther wheeled truck for combat situations.

When you land arrive at the LZ, don't move. Immediately send off a transport of reinforcements. Send in more lancers, howitzer tanks, and another truck. Move your lancers to the east side of the LZ pit, with the commander right behind them. Assign the lancers to the commander, and set all units to "hold position", and "do or die".

Next, send one of the VTOLs to the center of the map where the red beacon is. Follow it as it goes. It will reveal much of the map to you. As soon as it's visible, target the enemy's control center (the round building with a radar on the top). That will eliminate the VTOL attacks that you would have had to withstand had you not destroyed it. The VTOL will fly back as soon as it fires. It may or may not survive.

If the VTOL survived, use it for the next step. If not, use the other one. Assign ONLY ONE of your ripple tanks to the CB tank. While holding control, click a few tiles south of the LZ. With control still down, click again in the LZ pit. That will make the VTOL fly out, and immediately fly back. You should see your ripple tank fire off a barrage, and a barrage of missiles will land where the VTOL was. You will be able to see the ripple structures, and one of them will have been destroyed. Attach the other ripple tank to the CB tank, and repeat the process with the VTOL. A second ripple structure will be destroyed.

At this point, you will be attacked by two very heavy tanks. This is why you set your units to hold position. If you hadn't, your lancers would leave the pit to attack the enemies. This way, they will only fire at them from inside of the pit. They should be destroyed pretty quickly.

Before attacking the other two ripple structures, start your truck on the construction of a ripple emplacement. You waited until now because if you had done it sooner, it would have fired on an enemy structure, it would have been detected, and been destroyed by the enemy emplacements. Remember to grant the commander artillery support.

As soon as a ripple rocket is reloaded, execute the same maneuver with the VTOL. That will destroy another ripple structure. Your other ripple tank should be ready shortly thereafter, and repeat the process.

With the control center and the enemy's ripple rockets eliminated, you can safely emerge from the pit. Immediately start the truck building a repair facility just south of the pit. Line up your combat units to the south of the pit, and east of your other units for protection. As soon as the repair facility is complete, set your units to retreat at medium damage. Assign the ripple rockets to the commander, and recycle the CB tank. Begin creating VTOL rearming pads with the truck.

Now, you are ready and don't need to worry about dying. Your backup should arrive soon. Assign all combat and artillery units to the commander. Call for a transport with a couple more howitzer tanks, but mostly bunker buster python VTOLs. Use your two trucks now to continue building rearming pads. You may build a couple defensive structures to the east as well. Don't venture too far, however. There is a scourge missile tower that will fire at you.

As soon as you have a functional VTOL again, send it/them against the scourge missile tower to the east. It will take two shots to destroy.

Begin sending your VTOLs out to destroy the enemy's base structures, starting with the factories. It will take two shots at a time on the factories, as they are maintained by enemy trucks. Start moving your commander forward, making sure to destroy all defensive structures before they get there. Before entering the main base area, construct another repair facility, and take out all howitzers and bombard pits with your VTOLs. It will then be safe to enter, destroy the enemy units, and recover the artifacts.

As you approach the end of your mission, be careful. Don't destroy all the enemy structures until you're almost out of time. Use that free time to recycle the structures you've created (ripple emplacements, rearming pads, etc.), and recover that energy. Also during that time, your power generators back at the base will be generating more power as well. When you have a few minutes left, destroy the last structure. The mission will end automatically, you don't need to return to the LZ.

This is one of those "if i want it blown up, then by god, i am going to blow it up" weapons.
This is good for destroying any enemy targets that are key to your strategy. Alone its not a game winner, but it is a hole maker. Combined with the right strategy and used in the right place, it can be a deciding factor. Make a hole at the right place and follow it up with the right units, and it could change the outcome of a game.
(the point of this is that its unblockable and unpredictable;a new piece on the chess board)

Shadow Wolf TJC wrote on Jan 26 in w/lancer:

Lancers, along with their more advanced counterparts, Tank Killers and Scourge, can cut through tank armor like a hot knife through butter. This makes them an excellent choice for conducting precision strikes against individual vehicles, though you'll need to be careful when using these against groups of vehicles, as they could fire more missiles than are needed to destroy a vehicle, and their rate-of-fire is poor compared to a cannon. Thus, they are prone to overkill.

How long does it take to assimilate enemy units with this thing anyways? Does the time that it takes depend on how much HP the unit has, or how large the target is? Do multiple turrets increase the speed at which they're assimilated?

Mass driver is an awesome fort if you need to only shoot something when it's right in your face. Missile fort for the win.

ISA- John wrote on Jan 24 in d/massdriverfortress:

There is a small problem with you plan, if you did not realize by the time you have Mass Driver, your enemy most likely has Gausses, and that would mean that your fort is rubish to those tanks, and with the units you plan to use should be scraped for super needle gun borgs and super scorge missle borgs

Dataman wrote on Jan 19 in w/archangelmissile:

Works well if you plant it as a turret very close to an enemy base. Of course, you need to send fire support to protect the truck while it's building.

Dataman wrote on Jan 19 in bp/viper:

If you use this body with wheels and a howitzer, be prepared for an extremely slow tank with a lot of firepower but bad long-range accuracy. However, it does make a good vehicle for a two-part rush because you can start all of the tanks you want to use at the same time, the faster tanks arrive first and attack, then the howitzers arrive as fire support.

Anonymous wrote on Jan 19 in alpha11:
