If you want a nice weapon with decent range that's effective against small, lightly-armored vehicles during the start of a multiplayer or skirmish match that can be mounted onto light vehicles without compromising speed, then this should be more preferable to you than a light cannon. However, against more heavily-armored vehicles, you're better off using Lancers due to their greater damage-per-shot, and cannons would be more useful if you're planning on mounting an all-rounder weapon that's best used against light or medium-armored vehicles onto a medium or heavy body since they aren't as weighed down by them as lighter vehicles are.
